LUCKNOW: Twenty officials- nine from Lucknow University and 11 from Agra University- accused in the fake education certificate scam are likely to be expelled. On Friday, the CB-CID filed a chargesheet against the accused under various sections of IPC in a local court in Muzaffarnagar. The investigating agency has also asked the two university's authorities to take departmental action against the erring officials.
In 2010, 18 students managed to secure admission in a Basic Training Certificate (BTC) in Muzaffarnagar on the basis of fake certificates. The incident came to light during the verification of documents. A case of cheating was then registered against the 18 students, who later surrendered before the court. However, the court on November 14 issued non-bailable warrants against the accused (officials) for having failed to appear before the court.
According to the CB-CID inquiry, 20 officials were found guilty of selling fake certificates to the students. Those who are from LU include Anil Srivastava, Ajay Srivastava, Rajesh Srivastava, Ajit Singh, Ramji Ram, RD Dubey, Sunil Singh, Dheerendra Shukla and Alok Verma.
