Mohammad Sadiq Dar, son of Manzur Ahmed Dar from Baramulla, Kashmir is working for an oil company in Kuwait, with a BTech degree in mechanical engineering of 2014 from the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET). However, IET doesn't offer any BTech course but only bachelor of engineering (BE) on successful completion of four-year course.
Manzur Ahmed Dar on Tuesday reached IET campus for verification of his son's BTech degree. He told institute officials that his son studied at a centre in Narayan Vihar, Delhi and that he wanted to know whether his degree is authentic or not. Within a few minutes the degree was declared to be fake. Director of IET sent the details about the matter to the university registrar, with a written complaint by Manzur. He informed that eight marksheets of each semester and a degree was issued by the centre to his son, for which Rs 2 lakh was taken as fees.

"This is a serious issue. Fake marksheets have surfaced earlier as well. Manzur was informed about the fake documents and the entire matter has been brought to the notice of the university registrar," said VK Saraswat, head of IET. Last year around 56 fake marksheets were sent by the institute to the registrar's office.
In the second matter, US Embassy wanted to probe a BEd marksheet, for which Delhi Police officials visited the university on Tuesday with documents of one Ravi Kumar Ganguly. His BEd marksheet was of 2013 but the roll number on it was of 2009 and university officials soon found it to be fake. According to officials, the man has applied for a job in US with the mark sheet and the document was forwarded by the embassy for verification.
Several cases of fake marksheets, including BA, BSc, engineering and management degrees have come to the notice of university officials, but police complaints are yet to be filed. University registrar Ashok Arvind did not respond to repeated calls and messages on the matters. Meanwhile, SIT has made arrests and is investigating thousands of allegedly fake Bed marksheets issued by the university.
